Checkup & Treatment Plan
A comprehensive examination is the cornerstone of Maison Dental’s care policy.
An oral exam allows us to check the overall health and hygiene of your mouth. We are able to screen for oral disease, check for signs of grinding, enamel erosion and spot any visible decay. X-rays, intra-oral photos, and digital scans of your teeth aid us in diagnosing disease and allow us to record how the look and function of your teeth change over time. Not only do we examine your teeth, but also the soft tissues, tonsils and surrounding oral muscles. With our thorough examination, we can determine the overall health of your mouth, and together plan your oral health journey.
TREATMENTS
Gum Health & Hygiene
Gums are like the foundations of a house. With strong foundations, strong teeth can flourish and we’re able to eat to our heart’s content during a long and healthy life . If instead our foundations are damaged, our teeth are at greater risk of becoming mobile and suffering from decay, pain and sensitivity. That is why it’s so important to have regular cleanings with the dentist to remove any plaque and hard build-up (calculus) which can cause inflammation and breakdown of the gums and surrounding bone. We promise to be thorough but gentle, so your gums remain strong and healthy enough to support your teeth. Our heated water chamber for ultrasonic scaling also helps to reduce sensitivity that one may experience during a cleaning.
Emergency Dentistry
Broken a tooth? Has your filling or crown fallen out? Experiencing sudden pain in your mouth? We will investigate thoroughly to find the source of your pain and help relieve your discomfort. The Maison Dental team will make it a priority to see you as soon as we can for any emergency situation.
Children’s Dentistry
Maison Dental is the perfect place to introduce your child to the friendly local dentist. We love introducing positive dental habits to children (even as young as two) to help promote a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. It is also very important to monitor the growth and eruption of your child’s teeth so we don’t miss any opportunities to correct issues early on and avoid more complex treatments in the future. Our ceiling-mounted TV, kid-sized headphones, and happy gas are all helpful tricks to help make your child’s visit to Maison Dental just that little bit more fun and enjoyable.
Dental Anxiety
The Maison Dental team understands that a trip to the dentist may be a daunting experience for some. We make every effort to alleviate any concerns you might have and help you feel at ease during your visit. If you think you might be an anxious patient, let us know in advance and one of our friendly team members will call you to discuss how we might best help. Options range from short conditioning appointments to help familiarise you with our practice, to more therapeutic solutions such as nitrous oxide (happy gas) inhalation or sedation with a qualified practitioner.
Fillings & Crowns
We really try to avoid removing original tooth structure, but when there is no other option we are passionate about restoring your teeth to look, feel and act just like they did originally. White filling materials are used to create natural looking fillings which are able to withstand the forces you place on them. If your tooth has had large fillings previously, or has developed cracks and fractures, it may need more structural protection with the fitting of a crown. All of our crowns are custom designed and made by local meticulous dental technicians who take pride and care with their work.
Root Canal Treatment
Your tooth may need root canal treatment when diagnosed to be ‘dead or dying’. This means that the nerve and blood vessels which are located inside the canals in the roots of the teeth have become infected. Using the latest technology and techniques available at Maison Dental, we can relieve any associated pain and save the tooth by thoroughly cleaning, disinfecting and then filling the canals. Often – but not always – we will need to also restore the tooth with a crown, to ensure the tooth is structurally protected.
Teeth Whitening
Do you want a brighter smile for a special event, or just feel your teeth are looking a little yellow? Teeth whitening can help whiten and brighten your teeth. We offer in-chair Zoom whitening treatments for instant results or provide custom-made trays and whitening gels which will gradually whiten your teeth at home. We are able to advise which whitening treatments are most appropriate for your teeth as some discolourations will not respond to whitening. Only dental professionals can use the higher chemical concentrations of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide required to achieve the best results.
Cosmetic Dentistry
We want to help you create your dream smile. Our dentists have the ability and experience to combine different types of ‘cosmetic’ dental treatments to achieve the smile that you’ve always wanted. Treatments may include a combination of Invisalign, teeth whitening, composite bonding, and porcelain veneers and crowns to transform the alignment, shape and colour of your teeth.
Invisalign
If you’ve ever thought about improving the way your teeth look and bite together, then Invisalign treatment might be right for you. Invisalign ‘clear braces’ help to gently move your teeth with a series of ‘invisible’ aligners that are changed weekly. We can scan your teeth and digitally predict your treatment outcome with a 3D simulation to create a straighter and broader smile.
Missing Teeth
Replacement
Have you lost a tooth prematurely and would like it replaced? There are several ways that Maison Dental can help to restore the gap both aesthetically and functionally. Treatment options may include a removable denture, a permanent bridge (where a crown is securely attached to adjacent teeth to replace the missing tooth/teeth), or a dental implant (which involves the integration of a titanium post into the bone structure upon which a crown is attached).
Sleep Apnoea
& Snoring
At Maison Dental, we have a special interest in sleep health and its integral connection to our mental and physical wellbeing. Signs and symptoms of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) often present orally - our experienced team are trained to identify these during your examination. We are able to prescribe and fit appliances designed to reduce snoring and OSA. We work closely with sleep and ENT specialists to ensure we provide the device that is right for you.
Teeth Grinding
& Clenching
Teeth grinding and clenching is common and is often associated with stress and anxiety, and sometimes underlying respiratory conditions. Continuous uncontrolled force placed on your teeth can lead to the development of tooth wear and cracks, muscle discomfort, jaw pain, and tension in the head and neck region. We can help relieve these symptoms by fitting a custom-made nightguard which acts like a shock absorber. We also offer botulinum toxin injections which can be effective in relaxing the jaw muscles.
